The situation
As of the intelligent lockdown in 2020, the whole of the Netherlands was upside down. Not only socially, but also business-wise, much was put on hold. Lindenhoff, supplier of honest fresh produce, did not want to give up and decided to look for ways to keep the business going.
After a few days of deliberation, the redeeming result came: Lindenhoff will make its fresh products available to the consumer market. Delivering to current customers was not possible and this market offered huge opportunities, especially as many were quarantined at home.
No sooner said than done. Lindenhoff started setting up delivery services for the consumer market. They made a quick switch and shifted gears quickly. Until they ran into a stumbling block: organising logistics. This turned out to be more complex after all, than they had initially anticipated.
Many more delivery addresses create a challenge
Compared to current customers, customers in the consumer market take much less volume at one time. This results in many more delivery addresses. This calls for smart planning instead of the current logistics process in which one delivery van with driver drives a fixed route to a few delivery addresses.
Scheduling consumer routes turned out to be much more complex.
It must and will be possible to do it more efficiently, Lindenhoff thought. They decided to investigate and soon came across RouteLogic. A tool that, within seconds, calculates smart routes based on weather conditions, loading and unloading times and traffic jams, spread over several vehicles.
The solution
Lindenhoff made contact with RouteLogic. They were quick to discuss the requirements and Lindenhoff was able to start with a demo. They liked it and a collaboration was established. The cooperation went so well and, above all, so quickly that the desired link with Lindenhoff's systems was established in no time.
After a few months, deliveries could again be made to the previous customers. Not yet at the volume of before COVID-19, but enough reason to include in the logistics process. Lindenhoff decided to deliver to them with the support of Routelogic as its logistics software. This gives them even better visibility of the time of delivery and makes it much easier for Lindenhoff's planners and drivers to create and drive optimale delivery routes.
A good cooperation as a result
A week after the first telephone contact, Lindenhoff officially started delivering its seasonal products for the consumer market, using RouteLogic. To this day, Lindenhoff still uses the tool and helps improve RouteLogic by contributing new features. The communication between the two parties is based on short lines and rapid interaction.
